Nuclear Medicine Fellowship Program

Welcome to McMaster University’s Department of Radiology – Nuclear Medicine Fellowship Program.

McMaster University, Department of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine Department offers one-year or two-year Clinical Fellowships that provide a broad-spectrum learning experience in three main pathways:

  • Nuclear Cardiology
  • Oncological PET/CT
  • Combined: General nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology, oncology PET, and radionuclidic therapy.

This fellowship program is offered through the large academic hospital systems in Hamilton: St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and Hamilton Health Sciences, including Hamilton General Hospital, Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, and McMaster University Medical Centre. Fellows will have the opportunity to rotate between facilities and gain exposure to state of the art facilities including two PET/CT instruments, CZT camera, five SPECT/CT cameras, and 4 Gamma cameras.

A large volume of studies is performed on daily a basis, offering a unique learning experience based on evidence-based medicine with diverse patient demographics and medical specialties. McMaster University is one of only four Canadian Universities consistently ranked in the world’s top 100 universities, McMaster has a proud tradition of academic and research excellence and is a renowned centre for clinical care and medical education. As an academic centre, there is a strong emphasis on academic activity including teaching and research.

The fellowships involve one or two years of intense training provided by specialists certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Clinical fellows receive a breadth of experience in applications of PET/CT and SPECT/CT imaging, in their specific pathway, as well as other relevant specialties.

Clinical Fellows are also involved in resident and medical student teaching, multidisciplinary rounds, and research projects.
